ஆந்திர நக்சலைட்டுகளுக்கும் விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கும் இடையே தொடர்பு இருப்பதாக துணைப் பிரதமர் அத்வானி கூறினார்.


டெல்லியில் நிருபர்களிடம் பேசிய அவர்,

ஆந்திர முதல்வர் சந்திரபாபு நாயுடுவைக் கொல்ல முயற்சித்து வைக்கப்பட்ட கண்ணி வெடிகளின் வகை மற்றும் அதன் தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பார்க்கும்போது விடுதலைப் புலிகளுக்கும் நக்சலைட்டுகளுக்கும் தொடர்பு இருக்கலாம் என்று தோன்றுகிறது.

விடுதலைப் புலிகளிடம் இருந்து தான் மக்கள் யுத்தப் படை நக்சலைட்டுகள் இந்தத் தொழில்நுட்பத்தை கற்றிருக்க வேண்டும் என்பது உறுதியாகிறது.

ஆனால், நாயுடுவைக் கொல்ல புலிகள் திட்டம் தீட்டியதாக எல்லாம் சொல்ல முடியாது என்றார்.

மேலும், நக்சலைட்டுகளைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவது குறித்து விவாதிக்க, ஆந்திரம், தமிழகம், கர்நாடகம், ஒரிஸ்ஸா உள்ளிட்ட நக்சல்கள் செயல்பாடு நிறைந்த 7 மாநிலங்களின் உயர் அதிகாரிகள் கூட்டத்தைக் கூட்டப் போவதாகவும் அத்வானி தெரிவித்தார்.

இந்த மாநில அதிகாரிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒரு கமிட்டி 5 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் மத்திய உள்துறைச் செயலாளர் தலைமையில் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. இந்தக் கமிட்டி விரைவில் கூடி நக்சல்களை ஒழிக்க திட்டம் வகுக்கும். மேலும் 7 மாநில போலீசாரும் இணைந்து செயல்படுவது குறித்தும் விவாதிக்கப்படும் என்றார்

மத்திய பாக்தாத்தில் குண்டுவெடிப்புசம்பவம் ஒன்று இடம்பெற்று சண்டை தெடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றுக்கொண்டிருப்பதாக CNN தொலைக்காட்சி அறிவித்துள்ளது. RPG க்கள் துப்பாக்கிகள்சகிதம் நடைபெறுவதாகக் செல்லப்பட்ட இச் சண்டையில் பெரிய அளவில் குண்டுவெடிப்ப்பினால் சேதம் இல்லை எனவும் தெரிக்கப்பட்டது.

Diwali comes to Manhattan

Traditional Gujarati dance mingled with bhangra-style workouts, amidst a feast of Indian cooking and shopping, as the festival of Diwali was celebrated in Manhattan's South Street Seaport on Sunday.

Manhattan's celebrations, now in their sixteenth year, are held several weeks before Diwali itself.

Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, celebrates the triumph of good over evil, as represented by the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after slaying the demon Ravana and rescuing his wife, Sita.

Two stages in lower Manhattan were filled with dancers and music reflecting customs from all over India.

Much of the emphasis of the day was on children and the younger generation of Indian Americans.

Eleven-year-old Shraya was part of an ensemble who performed a dance from northern India.

"The four girls are the Gopis - women from the village - and the boy was Krishna - so we were worshipping him," she explains.

Vishal, Preeta, Swati and Jessica - a group of friends - said that the day was a good way for people to get together.

Swati went on to say: "I don't live with my parents any more so sometimes you lose touch with your culture.

"It's our parents who usually make us to do this, so it's nice to come on our own and it's a chance for me to bring my friends and show them something of my culture."

The organisers of the festival, the Association of Indians in America (AIA), are trying to encourage younger Indians to get involved in American public life without forgetting their Indian heritage.

Shashi Shah, vice-president of the AIA, says that "as the second generation is coming up they are getting more involved in local politics".

"They are less concerned about India, and more about the USA - their adopted homeland."

And this festival, he says, "is really the realisation of cross-culture".

"There is more assimilation and more interaction between mainstream America and Indians at large," he says.

The AIA are hoping that this sentiment could be reflected in the possible celebration of Diwali at the White House this year for the first time ever.

No sweat

Sarina Jain, founder of the Masala Bhangra Workout - a workout based on the Indian dance of bhangra - has a different message.

Ms Jain, who hosts a TV workout show and says she is known as the Indian answer to Jane Fonda, wants more South Asians to get into fitness.

"95% of my clientele are American," she says.

"One out of 20 doctors in the US is an Indian, but South Asians have a low rate of physical activity" - and a high rate of cardiac arrests, she says.

"This is the first time that Indian dance is being introduced to the fitness industry."

But perhaps the smell of the food wafting near the stage where Sarina Jain is performing her workout is one clue why there weren't so many people working up a sweat at this festival.

இக்கலந்துரையாடலில் புலிகளின் மட்டு - அம்பாறை விசேடதளபதி கேணல் கருணா, சட்டநிபுணர்களான உருத்திரகுமாரன், இலங்கையின் முன்னாள் சட்டமாஅதிபர் சிவா பசுபதி, பேராசிரியர் போல் டொமினிக், பேராசிரியர் இராமசாமி, வழக்கறிஞர் இந்திரன் மற்றும் ஷிரான் பணிப்பாளர் இரேனியஸ் செல்வின், விடுதலைப்புலிகளின் சமாதானச் செயலணிச்செயலர் புலித்தேவன், பொருளியல் நிபுணர் ஜோய் மகேஸ்வரன் ஆகியோரும் கலந்துகொண்டிருந்தனர்.
சில தினங்கள் நடைபெறும் இக்கலந்துரையாடலை முடித்துக்கொண்டு எதிர்வரும் 11ஆம் திகதி புலிகளின் குழுவினர் வன்னி திரும்புவர் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகின்றது.
அதன்பின்னர் இம்மாத நடுப்பகுதியில் இடைக்கால நிர்வாகம் பற்றிய தமது இறுதித்திட்ட வரைவை நோர்வே அனுசரணையாளர்கள் ஊடாக இலங்கை அரசுக்கு புலிகள் அனுப்பிவைப்பர் என எதிர்பார்க்கப் படுகின்றது.

The Tigers had pledged to end child recruitment
Tamil Tiger rebels abducted at least 23 children just a day after freeing 49 child soldiers, according to independent truce monitors in Sri Lanka.
The Norwegian-led Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission said the children were taken from the eastern town of Valachchenai over the weekend.

Three hundred Tamil students from the main school in the area staged a protest, sitting on the main road and blocking traffic all morning.

They said they would repeat their protest - a rare show of defiance towards the Tigers - until their friends were released.

The Tamil Tigers have denied involvement in the abductions, but BBC Colombo correspondent Frances Harrison says it is hard to imagine who else could be behind such a large number of children disappearing.

Fear

The abductions saw several small groups of children taken away. Some children were taken from a school, others from a Hindu temple where religious ceremonies were under way.

Local police say they are finding it difficult to investigate the abductions because parents are too frightened of the rebels to come forward and make an official complaint.

A spokeswoman for the truce monitors, Agnes Bragadottir, said they were trying to arrange a meeting between the Tiger leadership and the Tamil parents in an attempt to secure the release of the children.

The abductions happened barely 24 hours after the Tigers ceremonially released 22 boys and 27 girls at their political headquarters in the northern town of Kilinochchi.

The 49 children are being accommodated at a halfway home in the area set up by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).

The UN agency plans to open two more such centres in the east of the island.

The conscription of children is regarded a violation of the truce brokered by Norway, which is trying to secure a political settlement to the island's ethnic conflict which has claimed more than 60,000 lives since 1972.
