A member of the Liberation Tigers was killed in an ambush near Kirumichchai, 48 kilometres north of Batticaloa, Saturday morning around 10. "He was killed in an ambush by the Sri Lanka army (SLA) in an area that is under our control. It about three kilometres from the SLA's Cadjuwatte camp", said an LTTE official in Batticaloa. "A Sri Lanka army helmet was found at the scene of the ambush," he said.
The ambush party escaped to the SLA camp in Mankerni, according to the LTTE official.
