<span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'>Sounds of Sri Lankan Drums in Norway </span>

Sounds of Sri Lankan drums reverberated in the festival village of Forde in central Norway, where the International Folk Music Festival was held last weekend. When the dancers and musicians from over 30 countries took part in a procession in the streets of Førde, music lovers who flocked to the pavements kept a nonstop applaud to express appreciation. According to the festival news bulletin, Sri Lankan drums were ranked among the top hits of the international festival.

The 10 member musical group of highly recognized artistes from Sri Lanka was led by top exponents Ravibandu Vidyapathy and Kalasuri Arunthathy Sri Ranganatha. At the festival the group rendered traditional Sinhala and Tamil music, of which the highlight was the unique series of drumbeats that enthralled the audience.

On their return from Førde, the Music Group presented an evening of Sri Lankan traditional music at the KFUN Huset in Oslo. Several Ambassadors and a large number of diplomats, senior Norwegian officials and Sri Lankans in Oslo were in the large music hall, which was filled to its capacity.

Two music events were organized by the Sri Lankan Consulate General in Oslo with generous assistance from the Royal Norwegian Foreign Office.

<span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'>LTTE Member To Contest Elections in Oslo </span>
Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, SLT 7.00 A.M Monday 25 August. Mr.Balasingham, known as Baskaran, a LTTE leader in Norway has obtained nomination from the Labour party in Norway to contest the Municipal Council elections in Oslo, which is to be held shortly. Balasingham has been aggressively campaigning among the Tamils and is actively supported by the Norwegians dealing with Sri Lankan issue. Political observers and the Norwegian Progressive Party question as to how a member of a listed terrorist organization in USA, Britain, Canada, Australia and India could stand as a Labour party candidate in Norway which is playing the role of facilitator in the Sri Lankan peace process.
The Norwegian support for the LTTE's candidacy is said to have been prompted by the fact that the previous two Sri Lankans representations in Municipal Council were Dr Amara Ranaweera a Sinhalese and Mubarak Ali a Muslim. Moderate Tamils in Norway are also surprised that a die hard, unqualified LTTE member who had entered Norway illegally has been selected over many potential conservative Tamil professionals. An office bearer of a Sinhalese Association in Norway when contacted said, "We have no objections to any Tamil contesting any election in Norway. But when a known LTTE member is selected specially by the Labour party, one wonders if LTTE has already been recognized by the Norwegian Government, which could well be a signal of eventual recognition of Eelam. Erna Solberg, Norwegian Minister for Local Government and Regional Development told this correspondent last month in Oslo that funding of the LTTE at global level was not wrong and she also spoke of the moderate Tamils living in Norway. However, it is not known if Baskaran's nomination by the Labour Party has received Solbergs blessings.

The LTTE has a well entrenched network in Norway encompassing fund raising to arms deals, money laundering, narcotics trafficking in addition to usual false propaganda. Norway is also considered to be LTTE's European headquarters particularly after crackdown of LTTE activities in London and Paris. It is known that Norwegian authorities turn a blind eye to LTTE nefarious activities, which could eventually have an adverse effect on the Norwegian society. Even the Police chief of Norway has recently revealed correlation between rising criminal activities with the liberal attitudes towards so called asylum seekers in Norway.

உயர்படிப்பு லண்டனிலா..? ஒரு இணையத்தில் இப்படி ஒருசெய்தி வெளியாகியுள்ளது.
:?: :?: :?:

The story making the rounds is that the 17-year-old son of Vellupillai Prabakaran, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) reportedly told his father that he would not have anything to do with the armed struggle and that it was time he saw the rest of the world.

It seems the son sat for his examinations and passed with flying colours. The Government gave him a scholarship and it is believed that he is now studying medicine in London.

LTTE Supporter Says LTTE Got Strong Connections in Norway Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, SLT 8.15 P.M Monday 1 September. A Norwegian Tamil, Siva Adarsh says that several Tamils have got involved in politics in Norway and representing local councils in various parts of Norway and they were not elected only by Tamil votes but enjoy significant support of the Norwegian population. In responding to a news item that a strong LTTE supporter and a leader Balasingham alias Bhaskaran is planning to contest elections in Oslo from the Norwegian Labour Party, Adarsh says K. Sivarajah was elected from the Tromso Council representing the Leftist Party and T.Kuberan and Mrs. Sivanasan was elected to the Vardoe Council representing the Christian Democratic Party and Social Party and K. Sivarajah went on to contest the Norwegian general elections. Sivarajah is currently an advisor to the Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries Department. According to Siva Adarsh an ardent LTTE supporter, Sivarajah who is a Norwegian government servant is now awaiting eagerly to move to rebuild his homeland.
Political observers and the Norwegian Progressive Party has already questioned as to how a member of a listed terrorist organization in USA, Britain, Canada, Australia and India could stand as a Labour Party candidate in Norway, which is playing the role of the facilitator in the Sri Lankan peace process. Defending Balasingham his LTTE friend, Adarsh says that all those who represented Norwegian Councils are strong supporters of the liberation struggle and support the common objective to free their oppressed brothers and sisters from the occupying forces. By this statement Siva Adarsh confirms the Norwegian support for the LTTE and the allegations that there is an attempt to divide Sri Lanka and the role-played by Norway and the pressure put by the pro-LTTE lobby in Norway working and operating within the government of Norway. He says, " You should also be aware that the people who were chased away from their home country took refugee in Norway and other Western nations and perfectly settled down and learned their cultures and valuable technical skills and are currently occupying several government positions of those countries" The LTTE has a well-entrenched network in Norway encompassing fundraising to arms deals, money laundering, and narcotics trafficking in addition to usual false propaganda. Norway is also considered to be LTTE's European Head Quarters, and thereafter worked as an IT Consultant in Norway.
