Sri Lanka's tsunami-battered shores are in danger of being hit by a cyclone, building off its east coast.
Sri Lanka's meteorological department says there is a possibility of a cyclone within the next 24 hours.
Alerts have been sounded on radio.
A low pressure system has developed in the Bay of Bengal around 300 kilometres southeast of the town of Hambantota and strong winds, frequent showers and rough seas have been forecast off the coast.
