Quote:Born in Chavakachcheri on 24.12.1957, Subathiran involved himself during the early eighties in the struggle for the national liberation of the Tamil people, for a social change of all Sri Lankans and against all forms of social oppression.
He was a model to all those who wished to know how a man should lead his life. He sacrificed his life for the firm principles he followed. In this field the period of his share was a quarter century. Both in the outside world and during his prison life he always maintained robustness in spite of undergoing many sufferings, tortures and mental agonies.
All those who associated with him had only admiration towards him for his cordiality and kindness. He was always unselfish in readily helping others.
He was exemplary in his comradeship, friendship and leadership. He rendered yeoman service in mobilising the suffering and down-trodden people, mobilizing the students, helping comrades and ordinary people in refugee camps and assisting in the social liberation of the north and east as well as in Tamil Nadu.
That noble gentleman always maintained cordial relations even with those who differed in their opinions with him.
His services as a municipal councillor in revitalizing the Jaffna Municipal Council and its functions were immeasurable.
Till he let out his last breath, felled by the LTTE assassin’s bullet, Subathiran was continuing to render his share of service to society.
These killings by the LTTE are taking place during a period in which attempts are said to be made to establish peace, after the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
We therefore appeal to the masses who believe in democracy and peace, the President, the Government of Sri Lanka, the opposition parties, foreign diplomatic missions, human rights organizations, non-governmental organizations and individual intellectuals to intervene in this matter immediately and cause an end to these killings.
The ambitions of Comrade Subathiran are the ambitions of the civilized human society. History will take them forward.”

உந்தச் சனி... பிணம் கொழும்புக்கு வந்ததாம். "டக்லசு", "சித்தார்த்தன்", ... எல்லாம் போய் பிணத்தைப் பார்த்துவிட்டு கட்டிப்பிடித்து அழுதவர்களாம்.
ஏனோ எங்கடை மு.மு.வரதர் தான் இன்னும் கட்டிப்பிடித்து அழ வரவில்லையாம், ஏதோ பாதுகாப்பாம், முன்பு மு.முவிற்காக எத்தனை கொலை கொள்ளைகளை இவர் செய்தவராம். வெளி நாட்டிலிருந்தும் வாறதெண்டவையளொருதரும் வரவில்லையாம்.
கட்டிப்பிடித்து அழுததை கேட்டு எனக்கும் சோகத்தை தாங்க முடியவில்லை. கவலையில் நேற்று ராத்திரி முக்காப் போத்தலுக்கு மேல் முடிஞ்சு போச்சு. இனி பிணம் எடுக்கும் நாளும் வருது என்ன செய்யப் போறேனோ தெரியவில்லை. ஆறுதல் சொல்ல பக்கத்தில் "ஜிமதி. நளாயினி. கண்ணன். நித்தியா. சூரியன். ....." இல்லையே!

அப்படpப்போடு அவர் வரமாட்டார் ஏன் தெரியுமோ அவருக்கு வாறதிற்கு ரிக்கற் காசும் இவர் ஆரும் கடை முதலாளிகளிடம் பறித்து அனுப்பவேண்டுமாம். அதுமட்டுமல்ல வாளப்பு நாய் செத்தால் எயமான் தற்கொலையோ செய்யுறது?

நளாயினி செத்தேக்க இருக்கிறது மெத்தேக்கை வந்தால் என்ன தலையிடியோ அதே போலவே இந்த மாற்றுகருத்துகள் கொண்ட ஊடகம். அதுபோக பரணி இங்கு யாரையும் சீண்டுவது நோக்கமல்ல தவறுகள் சுட்டிக்காட்டப்படவேண்டியன சுறுட்டி வைக்கப்படவேண்டியவை அல்ல.

இன்று கொழும்பில் நடைபெற்ற தேசத்துரோகி சுபத்திரனின் இறுதிச் சடங்கில், இலங்கைக்கான இந்திய பிரதி தூதுவர் உட்பட பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் மனித உரிமை அமைப்புக்களின் பிரதிநிதிகள், மற்றும் அரசு சார்பற்ற நிறுவனங்களின் அதிகாரிகள், அரசியல் கட்சி பிரமுகர்கள், மதத் தலைவர்கள் உட்பட, தமிழ், சிங்கள, முஸ்லீம் மக்களும் வந்து அஞ்சலி செலுத்திப்போட்டு சிரித்துக்கொண்டு செண்றனர்.
ஆனால் வளப்பு நாயின் எசமான் வரவில்லை.
