I am a Tamil Diaspora residing in __________________.
I have a very large extended family living across Sri Lanka and the western world.
Those of us who left Sri Lanka did so in order to save our lives from a campaign of genocide conducted by the 'democratic' government of the 'sovereign state' of Sri Lanka.
Those of us residing in the west remain very concerned about the threats faced by our brethren in Sri Lanka on a day to day basis.
While some members of my family fund the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on a 100% voluntary basis, others choose not to for reasons of their own.
Neither I nor any other member of my family has ever been intimidated by the LTTE to give money.
Thus I find the conclusions made in your report 'Tamil Tigers Extort Diaspora for 'Final War' Funds' highly offensive.
I would like an apology from Human Rights Watch (HRW) for publishing the assumption that Tamils do not have a good enough understanding of the laws in western states. Because I for one, am an active citizen who is not scared to report crime when ever it happens.
