TYO எனப்படும் தமிழ் இளையோர் அமைப்பு பல நாடகளில் செயற்திட்டங்களை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்ற போதும் வெகு அண்மைக்காலத்தில்தான் ஒஸ்ரேலியாவிலே நிறுவப்பட்டு தனது செயற்திட்டங்களை முன்னெடுக்க இருக்கின்றது. வரும் ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை அதன் சிட்னிக்கான 2006 இன் முதலாவது கலந்துரையாடல் நிகழ்வை நடத்துகிறது. இதன்போது எதிர்காலத்தில் ஒஸ்ரேலியாவில் முன்னெடுக்க இருக்கும் பணிகள் குறித்து செயற்திட்டங்கள் திட்டமிடப்பட இருக்கின்றன என அதன் பிரதிநிதிகள் தெரிவித்திருக்கின்றனர். குறிப்பாக தாயகத்தில் நடைபெறும் விடுதலைப்போரின் நியாயத்தன்மையை உலகின் பல நாடுகளுக்கும், பல்வேறுபட்ட இனங்களைச் சேர்ந்த மக்களுக்கும் கொண்டுசெல்கின்ற வாய்ப்பு தமிழ் இளையோருக்கு இருப்பதனால் அவ்வாறான செயற்திட்டங்களும் இடம்பெற இருக்கின்றன. அண்மையில் தாயகப் பகுதிகளுக்கு சென்று திரும்பிய மாணவர்களுடனான சந்திப்பும் இடம் பெறுகின்றது. பல துறை சார் மாணவர்களும் அங்கு சென்று தம்மாலான உதவிகளை வழங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

TYO USA is an American organization associated with the Tamil Youth Organization (TYO), an international group focused on bringing together Tamils and promoting Tamil culture. TYO USA provides a place for Tamil youth across the United States to communicate, learn, and take part in projects that aid the Tamil community both at home in the United States and abroad. These projects include fundraising, political advocacy and volunteer community service work. Furthermore, TYO USA seeks to promote Tamil culture and the Tamil language among youth in the United States.

Fundraising

TYO USA takes part in a number of major fundraising projects. We are currently focused on raising money for a children's home in Sri Lanka, Senthalir Ilam (Tender Sprouts). Tender Sprouts is located on the coast in an area that was badly damaged by the civil war and then further devastated by the tsunami. Of the 153 orphaned or destitute children that this orphanage once housed, only 30 survived the December 26th, 2004 tsunami. The home, which consists of children ranging from toddlers to young teenagers, now houses these survivors as well as an additional 52 children who were orphaned by the tsunami or whose parents are unable to support them. The Tender Sprouts orphanage goal capacity is 300, but its current facilities and funding are inadequate to shelter and care for this many children. Advocacy

In light of the ongoing history of injustice and state-sanctioned oppression targeted at the Tamil population in Sri Lanka, TYO USA takes part in a number of political action campaigns focused on the American political system designed to encourage the United States to help alleviate the suffering of the Tamils in Sri Lanka. TYO USA conducts mailing campaigns to raise awareness among the Tamil community here in the hopes that they, in turn, will do their part to raise awareness among their members of Congress. We also take part in direct lobbying of members of Congress in an effort to help improve U.S. policy on Sri Lanka and promote an outlook that acknowledges the oppression of the Tamil people.
