Tamil Tigers deny their involvement over child abduction

Oct. 08, Colombo: Following the UNICEF criticism of the alleged abduction of school children from Valachchenai, the LTTE yesterday denied the involvement in the abduction.
Deputy head of the LTTE's political wing in Batticaloa, Krishan in a press conference held at Karadiyanaaru in Batticaloa only for few reporters presented eleven teenagers and said that they voluntarily agreed to join the LTTE.
The LTTE allowed the reporters to interview those teenagers, who were reportedly abducted from Valachchenai last Saturday.
On Monday, parents have demonstrated against the alleged abduction of 24 persons, including students, by the LTTE.
Yesterday the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) also criticized the incident as completely unacceptable and a serious violation of children's rights.
