LTTE's air prowess and Kadi's duplicity

For the government to now feign dismay at solid proof that the LTTE has indeed constructed an airstrip and are in possession of aircraft is ludicrous to say the least and typical of an administration totally inept and lackadaisical. Reports about the LTTE's 'airforce' were out in black and white 10 years ago. The questions that should be raised at this current juncture should not be about the existence of an LTTE airforce. After all, this government had been well warned and briefed that it has existed over the last 10 years. The question is this.
Why President Chandrika Kumaratunga in her capacity as Defence Minister and Commander in Chief and Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar did nothing to either arrest or address the issue 10 years ago, or at the very least over these last 10 years that Kumaratunga has been in power? That Kadirgamar has to now visit Britain and inform Foreign Secretary Jack Straw the danger of the LTTE acquiring air capability in this backdrop is sheer hypocrisy and no doubt was to detract from the government's failure to get the peace process back on track due to internal problems with the JVP
