Sri Lanka gov't blocks UN official's visit to rebel area: WFP

COLOMBO (AFP) - [b]The Sri Lankan government has refused to give clearance to the UN's World Food Program (WFP) director for a visit to the northern rebel-held town of Kilinochchi, WFP spokeswoman told AFP.
"We have not been given clearance to go to Kilinochchi" by government officials, spokeswoman Selvi Sachithanandam said Saturday. "
Kilinochchi was supposed to be on the itinerary tomorrow morning and I'm afraid we're not going to be able to do that... It's very disappointing."
