Kuwaiti relief committee distributes food, medicines in Sri Lanka, Maldives
By Fahad Al-Zamel KUWAIT, Jan 7 (KUNA) -- The distribution of Kuwaiti aid has started in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, said Secretary General of the Kuwaiti Joint Relief Committee Faisal Al-Jiran.
Al-Jiran told KUNA before leaving for Colombo last night the distribution of aid will cover some villages affected by the Dec. 26 Asian tsunami disaster.
He said the mission will also cover an assessment of the disaster and convey the facts to Kuwaiti charitable associations.
He pointed out that the following charitable projects will include building of villages, digging artesian wells, and other infrastructure projects.
The Kuwaiti Joint Relief Committee is formed from members of a number of charitable organizations working in Kuwait. (end) faz.
