India state issues tsunami alert
Officials in India's Tamil Nadu state, which was particularly hard hit by the Indian Ocean sea surge, have issued a new tsunami alert.
The state government said aftershocks in the Andaman and Nicobar islands may cause high waves and warned people to leave coastal areas, Reuters reported.
Eyewitnesses said residents were fleeing in panic.
Thousands of Indians have died in the tsunami that followed Sunday's undersea earthquake off Indonesia.
More soon.
