Dinesh Rajaratnam, 37, a Sri Lankan Tamil, was taken hostage by the Iraq Islamic Army on 28 October near a US military base in Iraq. Well wishers of his family have mounted an appeal for his immediate release, a website posting the appeal said.
Rajaratnam, a father of three children has been working in Kuwait as a truck driver in 2003. He secured the job after paying Rs.68,000 to middlemen.
The family said that Rajaratnam was not happy with his job and was planning to return to Sri Lanka when the incident happened.
The posting in releaserajaratnam.com requests the readers to sign a letter of appeal.
