<b>Veteran cinema actor Gamini Fonseka passed away</b>

A veteran actor of the Sinhala Cinema, Gamini Fonseka passed away
Died at the age of 65 years he had been honoured as the King of the Sinhala Cinema.
He died this evening of a sudden heart attack.
Having acted in the largest number of films he had earned the awards for the best actor and the most popular actor several times.
Before his death he had acted in 110 films and <span style='color:brown'>also in two Tamil films. The films Sagarayak Meda and Nomiyena Minisun he directed were at the centre of controversy.
Also being involved in politics, he was elected a member of parliament for the Matara District from the UNP ticket in 1985. He represented the parliament till 1994 and also held the post of Deputy Speaker. Thereafter he was appointed the Governor of the North East Province in 1995 and he resigned from this post after two years.
His funeral will be notified later. Lanka Truth also mourns his sudden death.
<b>Cinema legend's funeral on Sunday at Independence Square </b>
The funeral of cinema legend Gamini Fonseka will be held at Independence Square in Colombo tomorrow.
Funerals at Independence Square are held only for heads of state, national leaders and political leaders.
The remains of Mr. Fonseka are lying at his residence in Ja-Ela, Ekala. They will be moved to the National Art Gallery at 10 AM on Sunday.
