Opposition MP brings LTTE rebel leader Karuna to Colombo
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, June 23, 2004, 8.33 p.m.. Amidst conflicting reports about LTTE renegade Leader Karuna’s whereabouts, an Opposition United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Ali Zahir Mowlana who hails from the Eastern Province today revealed that he had brought Karuna and several other LTTE female cadres to Colombo.
After making this sudden announcement, the MP also tendered his resignation to party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe. In his resignation letter to Wickremesinghe, Mowlana had claimed that he had brought Karuna to Colombo purely on humanitarian grounds. Meanwhile, the United Peoples Freedom Alliance Government is yet to react to this sudden turn of events.
