SLMMs recommendations fallen onto deaf ears?
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, May 30, 2004, 11.11 p.m.. The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) recently recommended the need for constant dialogue between the Sri Lankan forces and the LTTE, Tamil sources said. To bring the present violent situation in the Eastern province under control, the SLMM insists that it is necessary for the LTTE and the forces to meet and discuss regularly, sources said. Accordingly, both parties were expected to meet at least once in two weeks. However, sources pointed out that even though this decision to meet once in two weeks was taken on May 11th, since then not a single such meeting has taken place between the LTTE and Sri Lankan forces.
