Defence Authorities devising new plan to protect the lives of Army and Intelligence officers
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, May 20, 2004, 11.56 p.m.. Following the spate of killings of Army and intelligence officers allegedly by the LTTE, Defence Authorities have devised a special security programme to protect the lives of Army and Intelligence Officers. According to Army Spokesman Col. Sumedha Perera necessary instructions in this regard has already been issued to the respective departments.
This Special Security plan comes after a LTTE cadre allegedly shot dead another Army Intelligence Officer in Batticaloa yesterday. Police and Army are currently questioning several persons in connection to yesterdays killing. Meanwhile Police sources also said, that they have already begun special security operations in the Batticaloa area, as a precautionary measure against such incidents.
