SLMC suspends four of its members
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, May 19, 2004, 10.38 p.m.. The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress today suspended four of their members, which included three Parliamentarians, over disciplinary issues. The suspended SLMCers are: Parliamentarians Rishard Badiudeen, Najeeb Majeed, Hussain Bhaila and A. Inamullah.
H. Bhaila was suspended from the party, following his crossing over to the Government bench in Parliament yesterday. While, the other three was suspended over their alleged involvement in the recent sex scandal involving SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem.
Party sources told the Lanka Academic that a committee has been appointed to look into the misconduct of these SLMC members, after which, the committee will recommend necessary action to be taken against these four.
