Rumors are rife in Batticalao and Amparai region about the possible recall of Colonel Thambirasa Ramesh - Batticaloa Amparai Special Commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). It is added that Colonel Ramesh who hails from Kokkaddicholai, is unable to satisfy the Vanni leadership despite the rising opposition to the LTTE in the east.  

According to unconfirmed reports Colonel Ramesh might be replaced with Karikalan, another LTTE Commander from Batticaloa and who is also expected to be a member of the LTTEs negotiation team replacing renegade leader Colonel Karuna Amman in the future peace talks with the Government of Sri Lanka.

At present, the general public in Batticaloa Amparai region - a region under the control and jurisdiction of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam are disgruntled with the daily killings of the youths from this region by the LTTE.

The sickening legacy of Tamil youths of this region being killed continues unabatedly.

On 09 May - Selvarasa Gunaseelan ( 28 ) of School Lane, located in Kiran, Batticaloa district was shot dead - Saturday around midnight, at Paththinipuram, a resettled village in Thampalakamam division, which is located about seventeen km off Trincomalee town along Trincomalee -Kandy highway. It was alleged that he was killed by LTTE operatives.

An unidentified group of pistol men suspected LTTE cadres shot dead two Tamils in Soruwilla, Mannampity, on 11 May (Tuesday) around 9.00 p.m.

Those two Tamils youths were - K. Packyaraja (27) of No. 199, Soruwilla, Aralangawilla and - Kokilan (23), of Main Street, Kiran, Batticaloa, suspected to be from a breakaway group of the LTTE They were shot and killed at close range by armed men from the LTTEs pistol group, who arrived at Packiyarajas residence while the latter was visiting him

. It was earlier reported that LTTE had already killed Rabert, Thurai and Kiran Visu who were formerly with Colonel Karuna Amman and subsequently surrendered to the LTTE’s special Commander Thambirajah Ramesh.

1. Visu (Sinnathamby Gopalan), was the political head of the Karuna group in Batticaloa and Amparai districts

2. Thurai - the cadre who was supervising the activities of the NGOs in the in the Batticaloa Amparai District.

3. Rabert - was a junior commander of the armed unit led by Colonel Karuna Amman.

These killings in the fratricidal war against Colonel Karuna Ammans men by the pistol group of the LTTE have begun to cause a telling effect on the day to day activities of the LTTE cadres in the East.

As on a daily basis Batticaloa - Amparai youths were being targeted and killed, which has begun to have a telling effect on Colonel Ramesh who is being looked upon by his very own people - sort of a traitor of the East.  

According to sources in Batticaloa, the intelligence report received in Vanni about the inactivity of the special commander Ramesh has begun to irritate the leadership and therefore he is to be recalled and replaced by Karikalan.

It is said that Ramesh may end up in an inactive position in Kilinochchi.

இன்று காலை 8 மணியளவில் மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்திலிருந்து இவர்களது வாகன அணி புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றுள்ளது.
