We want you, LTTE tells Norway
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, May 3, 2004, 10.29 p.m. . Amidst a hardline stand by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) that Norway should be sidelined in the peace process, the LTTE has made it very clear that the Norwegians should play a major role in the process. Norway's role is vital and it should continue, LTTE political Wing Leader S.P. Thamilselvam told Norway's special peace envoy Erik Solheim and Ambassador Hans Bratskar when they met at the LTTE peace Secretariat in Killinochci today.
Political sources told the Lanka Academic that in the event President Kumaratunga do decide to sideline the Norwegians, due to pressure from the JVP, it could even lead to serious repercussions. There is immense possibility that the LTTE will not agree to resume peace talks with the new Government, if the Norwegians dont play a vital role in the peace process. They may even go back to war sources warned.
