Army says they had nothing to do with LTTE murders
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, April 28, 2004, 6.24 p.m.. The Sri Lanka Army has out rightly denied any involvement in the LTTE killings, which left seven Tiger cadres dead including four disables cadres. According to the Army Spokesman Col: Sumedha Perera the murders took place in an area under LTTE control. The Army also accused the LTTE of merely cooking up stories on the murders and accusing the Army of carrying it out . They are just making mere assumptions, defence sources also said.
Meanwhile the Ministry o Defence in a news release yesterday stated that, The attention of the Ministry of Defence is drawn over the Armys involvement in the LTTE murders. The Ministry of Defence wishes to categorically state that the Security Forces have no knowledge of such an incident as it has been reported to have occurred in an uncontrolled area.
