Kadiragamar new Prime Minister?
Alladin Hussein in Colombo, March 4,2004, 11.37 pm. Presidential Advisor Lakshman Kadiragamar is tipped to be the United Peoples Freedom Alliances (UPFA) Prime Minister. However, sources claim that a battle is brewing within the UPFA ranks, with two other senior Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members also battling for the prestigious post.
The two other contenders are: Former Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse and President Chandrika Kumaratungas brother Anura Bandaranaike. The UPFA is expected to swear in the new Prime Minister either today evening or tomorrow, while the new cabinet is expected to be announced later this week.
Sources however said that most of the UPFA members preferred Lakshman Kadiragamar as the Sri Lankas new Prime Minister.
