Nimalarajan murder suspect accused in sexual assault

It came to light in the Jaffna Magistrate court Wednesday that the first suspect, in the murder case of Journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan, the paramilitary Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) activist Mr. Kandasamy Jegatheeswaran alias Jegan, is the person who had sexually assaulted a schoolgirl on March 26 in Karampon south village while absconding, legal sources said
The Kayts Police on an open warrant issued by the Jaffna Magistrate Mr.R.T.Viknarajah last week in the Nimalarajan murder case arrested Mr. Jegatheeswaran.
While absconding in the Kayts area, the murder suspect is alleged to have sexually assaulted a girl student on her way home from Karampon Little Flower Girl School. But the name of the person suspected in committing the sexual crime was given to Police as one Kiruba and also a member of the EPDP, police said.
However, the Police was unable to find a suspect with the name Kiruba.
The Jaffna magistrate ordered remand for the murder suspect till April 27 in the murder case without making any decision on the sexual assault charges yet, legal sources said.
