Xinhuanet, APril 3. COLOMBO, April 3 (Xinhuanet) --
The final result of Sri Lanka's 13th parliamentary election held on Friday could be held back by aweek, election officials said on Saturday. K. Senanayake, an assistant elections commissioner, said that the leaders of political parties who had contested the election are to meet the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake on Sunday to agree on the annulment of the polls in two unidentified areas. "A re-poll would have to be held within a week before the finalresult could be announced," Senanayake said. The political parties and Dissanayake will have to agree for the re-poll in the two areas. Friday's election was the most peaceful election in Sri Lanka'srecent past. However, the independent election monitoring group the Center for Monitoring Election Violence (CMEV) called for the annulment of the poll in the northern Jaffna peninsula, claiming large scaleimpersonation.
