"High Scale Impersonations Taking Place in Jaffna- Anandasangaree
Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, SLT 1.50 P.M Friday 2 April. TULF leader and Independent Candidate V. Ananddasangaree says that high scale impersonations are taking place in Jaffna with the same group of people going from booth to booth and casting other peoples votes. He told The Lanka Academic from Jaffna " The TNA/LTTE are transporting hundreds in buses. They would do even more if they have more vehicles. Even schoolboys are going and voting. They are voting on behalf of their fathers and grandfathers." The TULF leader said he had never seen this type of impersonations and mass scale rigging in Jaffna before. He accused the government for allowing the buses to ply freely with impersonators without taking any action. He said, " We warned that the LTTE had collected polling cards of the dead and the displaced much earlier and that they were planning to do this. It is happening right now under our own nose. Presiding officers are also helping them. May be they are helpless. This is why we asked for officers from Colombo to be sent here."
The TULF leader said that elections in Jaffna must be made null and void.
Yesterday, well informed Tamil sources in Jaffna said that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had planned a mass scale vote rigging to ensure the victory of the TNA by casting the vote of nearly 90,000 dead and displaced people. They said that the LTTE would use nearly 5000 cadres to carry the vote rigging exercise. A candidate from a small party said that the LTTE had already warned local monitors not to interfere with their activities. He pointed out that the LTTE is determined to defeat the leader of the TULF V. Anandasangaree and members of other parties to ensure the representation of LTTE in parliament.
