Varathan said, \" SLMM was brought here to maintain peace and help to maintain peace. Not to create conflicts. By doing this, the SLMM is trying to create a war in the east. But, we are ready to face any challenge.\" The MOU signed between the government and the LTTE does allow the escort of cadres to LTTE controlled areas.

Varathan also said that a Dr. Thiruchelvam Dean of the Agriculture faculty of the Eastern University had been shot and <b>killed</b> in Batticaloa

இது தொடர்பில் முன்னரும் ஒருதடவை இக்களத்தை விளிப்புணர்வு படுத்தி இருந்தோம்...இருப்பினும் தற்போதும் அது தொடரப்படுகிறது...எனவே யாழ் களத்தில் இப்பகுதியில் செய்தி வாசிப்பவர்கள் மிக அவதானமாகச் செய்திகளை அலசி ஆராய்து கருத்தெடுக்கும் வண்ணம் அன்புடன் கேட்டுக் கொள்ளப்படுகின்றீர்கள்....!
