<b>Sangaree Disappointed With Solheim's Snub </b>
Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, SLT 6.40 A.M Saturday 13 March. TULF leader and Independent candidate V. Anandasangaree has expressed his disappointment that the Norwegian Peace Envoy Erik Solheim did not meet with him in Jaffna during his visit to the peninsula. Sollheim and Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brakstar who was Jaffna on Thursday met with the Army and held discussions with the political wing leader of the LTTE Thamil Chelvan in Killinochchi. The Norwegian delegation also met t with representatives of the Muslim community.
Anandasangaree said out of ten groups fielding candidates in Jaffna, only 3 were serious campaigners and he was one and questioned why Solheim did not find it fit to meet with him. . The TULF leader said that groups in Jaffna were blaming him for the split within the LTTE saying that he had a hand in influencing rebel eastern commander Karuna to breakaway from the LTTE. He said that the allegations were baseless and he did not have even the slightest idea of Karuna's existence before the split.
Anandasangaree pointed out that the LTTE were using around 48 vehicles without number plates which was one among many violations of the ceasefire agreement and he was hoping to bring it to the attention of Solheim if he had met him. The TULF leader said " I had so many things to duscuss with him. I am sure he knew that and avoided me" He added that his election campaign was carried out mainly through the media as his life was under threat from the LTTE.
