A breakaway Tamil Tiger commander in Sri Lanka, Colonel Karuna, has accused the rebel leadership of preparing for a resummption of hostilities following the country's April elections.
Colonel Karuna told the BBC that he believed this was the reason why he was asked to send 1,000 troops from the east to the north of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanaka's fragile peace process is already in trouble because of a rift between the president and prime minister over how to negotiate with the Tamil Tigers.
