Sangaree Says LTTE Students Attacked His Vehicle

Wednesday 11 March. TULF leader V. Anandasangaree says that student group of the LTTE had carried out the attack on a vehicle being used in the election campaign by him yesterday. Anandasangaree who is contesting as an independent candidate in Jaffna said the vehicle was forcefully stopped and Propaganda leaflets and posters found inside were destroyed by a group of people near the Pameshwaran junction in Jaffna. He said " The attack was carried out by unscrupulous university students who belongs to a students group of the LTTE. The TULF leader alleged that the students had also assaulted two of his party members.
Anandasangaree also said that the LTTE had a free hand in the North and were engaged in a campaign of intimidation and violence to manipulate election results in the area. According to him the LTTE had procured 48 motor cycles and 2 jeeps all of which were umarked. He pointed out that the LTTE is using them to harass candidates other than the TNA. The TULF leader added that though complaints had been made to the Jaffna police there was little action the police could take to stop the LTTE from harassing the candidates.
