Special Team Sent to Assassinate Karuna- Spokesman

Spokesman for the rebel Eastern Commander of the LTTE, Karuna Amman said today that LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran had sent a special team to Trincomalee in preparation to assassinate Karuna. Spokesman Varadhan told The Lanka Academic " A team led by a LTTE intelligence cadre has been sent by the LTTE leadership to Trinco today. Karuna's life is under definite threat. We have also heard the news that Trinco leader Paduman his under house arrest" Varadhan said that he could not provide further information on the matter. When questioned if he knew about the details of the visit to Vanni today by a delegation led by Bishop Kingsley Swamipillai, Varahdhan said he had not received any details so far. He added that he was not sure if the delegation had returned to Batticaloa late evening.
