A Former Army Commander Says People Will Pressure the LTTE to Settle Problems
A former Sri Lankan Army Commander said that the people living in north east would pressure the LTTE to settle their differences and work for peace in Sri Lanka. He said that people in the north/east are now used to living in a peaceful environment and it was a good thing. He said the government would use this opportunity to help the people who have suffered most.
Speaking on the rift between Prabhakaran and Karuna, the General said We saw it coming for a long time. In fact it was there already. Eastern LTTE cadres always questioned as to how could the Northern LTTE cadres order them all the time. Earlier Karikalan was removed by Prabhakaran since the MOU was not well implemented in the East. It was the Eastern cadres who provided the pipeline for the LTTE. They took the brunt of all the fighting. How can Prabhakaran control north east when he cannot control his own members from the east. the former Army commander questioned. He pointed out that Karuna was a definite threat to Prabhakaran
