COLOMBO, April 25 (Reuters) - A blast in Sri Lanka's capital on Tuesday was caused by a female suicide bomber who blew herself up inside army headquarters, an army spokesman said.

"A suicide bomb went off near the army hospital aimed at the army commander's vehicle," the spokesman said.
The Tamil Tiger rebels, who have been observing a shaky ceasefire with the government since 2002, have used suicide bombers in their fight for a separate Tamil homeland.
