ANSWER: No, the LTTE is not banned in Canada, but has been designated as (when it comes into effect) one of thirtynine Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
QUESTION: What is the difference between a legal ban and the designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization?
ANSWER: If it is legally banned, the LTTE cannot function in Canada. Designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization has only limited legal consequences.
