<b>விடுதலைப்புலிகள் என்னை கொன்று விடுவார்கள்: கருணா அலறல் </b>

விடுதலைப்புலிகள் இயக் கத்தில் தளபதியாக இருந்து வந்த கருணா தனியாக பிரிந்து புதிய அமைப்பை ஏற்படுத்தி செயல்பட்டு வருகிறார். இதை தொடர்ந்து இரு அமைப்புகளுக்கும் இடையே மோதல் நடந்து வருகிறது.
தற்போது கருணா இலங்கை அரசின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் பதுங்கி இருப்பதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.
அவர் இ-மெயில் மூலம் பத்திரிக்கைக்கு பேட்டியளித்துள்ளார். அவர் கூறியதாவது:-
விடுதலைப்புலிகளிடம் இருந்து அனைத்து ஆயுதங்களையும் பறிக்க வேண்டும். சர்வதேச கண்காணிப்புடன் இதை செயல்படுத்தலாம். எங்கள் அமைப்பு மட்டும் அல்லாமல் மற்ற அமைப்புகளிடம் இருந்தும் ஆயுதங்களை பறிக்கலாம்.
விடுதலைப்புலிகளிடம் இருந்து ஆயுதங்களை பறிக்காவிட்டால் அவர்கள் என்னை கொன்று விடுவார்கள். அவர்களிடம் இருந்து ஆயுதங்களை பறிக்காதது விடுதலைப்புலிகளுக்கு என்னை கொல்ல சட்டப்பூர்வ அனுமதி அளிப்பது போல உள்ளது.
இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.
அமைதி ஏற்படுத்த இலங்கை அரசின் துணை ராணுவ படையிடம் இருந்து ஆயுதங்களை பறிக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஏற்கனவே விடுதலைப்புலிகள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்து இருந்தனர். அதற்கு பதிலடியாக கருணா இந்த தகவலை வெளியிட்டு இருப்பதாக தெரிகிறது.
இதற்கிடையே ஜெனீவாவில் விடுதலைப்புலிகள்-இலங்கை அரசு பிரதிநிதிகள் இடையே நாளையும் நாளை மறுநாளும் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடக்கிறது. இதற்காக இருதரப்பு பிரதிநிதிகளும் ஜெனீவாவில் உள்ளனர்.

COLOMBO (Reuters) - A breakaway Sri Lankan rebel leader, whose feuding with the Tamil Tigers is threatening a fragile ceasefire and is central to peace talks this week, said on Monday his forces would only disarm if the main group does.
President Mahinda Rajapakse vowed last week to rein in armed groups the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) say are attacking them, but V. Muralitharan, alias Col. Karuna, who split with the rebels in 2004, told Reuters his group would resume attacks if provoked.
"If Sri Lanka forces disarm all the armed groups and us ... it will only give legitimacy for the LTTE to extend its writ to kill us," former Tiger commander Karuna said in an e-mail interview confirmed via a personal telephone conversation.
"Any hand over of arms must be part of (a) conflict resolution process at a stage when normalcy and trust is established," Karuna added.
He made the coments just two days before the government and the Tigers are due to meet in Switzerland for talks widely seen as a last chance to avoid a return to a two-decade civil war.
"It is important that LTTE too must hand over its weapons at the same time under international supervision," Karuna said.
The Tigers have said that their demand that the government disarms armed groups is a pivotal issue at the Feb. 22-23 talks, and have warned the talks will decide whether there is peace or a return to a war that has already killed more than 64,000 people.
The Tigers accuse the military of helping paramilitaries to mount attacks within their territory mainly in the island's east, which was Karuna's stronghold when he was widely considered to be shadowy rebel leader Velupillai Prabhakaran's No.2. The government denies this.
AIDED BY MILITARY?
Karuna did not say whether he had received help from the military, but a truce monitor testified last year he had seen fighters loyal to Karuna operating near a military base in an army-held area in the east and analysts suspect the government is at least turning a blind eye.
Karuna, who called a unilateral ceasefire ahead of the talks, is living in hiding and spoke by telephone from an undisclosed location. A person known to Reuters who is familiar with Karuna's voice confirmed it was him, but asked to remain anonymous.
"If the LTTE engage in any future unprovoked attacks against us, we will be reviewing our defensive position and will take offensive actions," Karuna said.
"The ball is in their court now ... We will not even hesitate to start offensive actions against the LTTE," added Karuna, who some military sources say they suspect may be in India although others believe he is still in Sri Lanka.
Karuna split from the Tigers, taking an estimated 6,000 loyal fighters with him, in early 2004 after accusing the Tigers' northern leadership of discriminating against Tamils in the east.
Most of his followers are believed to have either returned to civilian life or rejoined the Tigers, and his force is now estimated to number a few hundred at most. He has since launched a political group, Tamileela Makkal Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP).
"We are a politico-military movement ... There is no need to disarm us as we carry arms only to defend ourselves from LTTE attacks," Karuna said. "With regards to our unilateral ceasefire, we will observe this (while) the LTTE keeps away from us."
Karuna said he and his followers planned to join the political mainstream once they were safe from the Tigers and said he would like to see Sri Lanka's protracted ethnic conflict resolved within a federal model.
"Our legitimate struggle has been mismanaged by the LTTE to protect its selfish, hegemonic (sic) interests," he said. "LTTE is not engaged in a national liberation struggle. It is trying to secure and extend its mafia state within the state of Sri Lanka."
