Question: - My BIOS is password protected from when a friend of a friend upgraded my PC from 98se to ME. I have been told to remove the battery from the BIOS or CMOS to fix, any suggestions
Answer: - You were told right. Remove the battery from the motherboard for about 15 min. then put it back in. There may also be a jumper on the motherboard you can set that will do it but the time you spend finding that out would be better spent just removing the battery. If you or your friend knows the BIOS password, there should be a setting in BIOS to clear it. The battery will be a big watch-style battery. About the size of a nickel or quarter. Be very careful not to break anything taking it out, sometimes they are tricky.
