[b]A fatal shooting in the city's east end on the weekend was nothing more than a "chance encounter gone terribly wrong," police said at a news conference on Aug. 02, 2005.</b>


Police say Umathevan Thiyagarajah, 26, of Toronto, was shot dead while attempting to help his friend in a bizarre case of parking lot rage just before midnight Saturday.

<i>"words were exchanged asking people to leave so they could get their vehicle out of the parking lot,"</i> said Det. Sgt. Mark Saunders.

......."These guys just wanted to get out of the parking lot and as a result a young man was killed."

[b]Thiyagarajah who had been a passenger in the vehicle in the vehicle trying to exit the lot, was shot and killed during the confrontation. The bullet punctured his heart and lung.

Another passenger and the driver were also assaulted, police allege.

The shooter is discribed as a black male, in his mid-20s with a muscular build, who was clean shaven at the time.
The second suspect is descibed as a black male, about 20 years old

Police hope that CIBC(one of the bank) surveillance cameras will help lead them to the suspects.
