SINGAPORE Arunprakash Vaithilingam (m), aged 24, Indian national

The execution of Arunprakash Vaithilingam has reportedly been scheduled for 3 October, following the rejection of his appeal for clemency to the President of Singapore.

Arunprakash Vaithilingam, a migrant worker from India, was sentenced to death in December 2002 after being convicted of the murder of his room-mate, who was stabbed to death during a drunken argument. At his trial, Arunprakash Vaithilingam stated that he had not intended to kill his room-mate and that initially he did not even realize he had stabbed him. He and several friends who had witnessed the argument immediately rushed the wounded man to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Despite eyewitness evidence, the Singapore High Court found Arunprakash Vaithilingam guilty of murder, an offence which carries a mandatory death sentence.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Please send appeals to arrive as quickly as possible, in English or your own language:
- urging the authorities to reconsider the decision to refuse clemency in the case of Arunprakash Vaithilingam;
- calling on the authorities to commute his death sentence immediately;
- expressing sympathy for the victims of violent crime, but pointing out that the death penalty has never been shown to have a unique deterrent effect;
- urging the authorities to establish an immediate moratorium on executions, with a view to abolition, in line with recommendations by the United Nations Commission for Human Rights.

சிங்கப்பூர்: தூக்கில் போடப்பட்டார் நாகப்பட்டிணம் வாலிபர் அருண்

சிங்கப்பூர்:

சிங்கப்பூரில் கொலைக் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்ட தமிழக இளைஞர் அருண் பிரகாஷ் இன்று தூக்கில் போடப்பட்டார்.


சிங்கப்பூர் நேரப்படி இந்திய நேரப்படி காலை 6 மணிக்கு சாங்கி சிறைச்சாலையில் இந்த தூக்கு தண்டனை நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது.

நாகப்பட்டிணத்தைச் சேர்ந்த வைத்தியலிங்கம் என்பரின் மகன் அருண் பிரகாஷ் (வயது 25). சிங்கப்பூரில் வேலை பார்த்து வந்தார். இவருடன் பிளாட்டில் தமிழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த லூர்துசாமி லெனின் செல்வநாயகம் என்பவரும் தங்கியிருந்தார்.

கடந்த 2001ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 22ம் தேதி, கிருஸ்துமஸ் விடுமுறையில் இருந்த இவர்கள் நன்றாகக் குடித்தனர். போதையில் மிகுதியில் அருண் பிரகாசுக்கும் லெனினுக்கும் வாக்குவாதம் ஏற்பட்டது.

இதில் போதை உச்சிக்கு ஏற ஆத்திரமடைந்த அருண் பிரகாஷ் கத்தியால் லெனினைக் குத்தினார்.

படுகாயமடைந்த லெனன் மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டார். ஆனால், சிகிச்சை பலனின்றி மறுநாள் லெனின் இறந்தார்.

இதையடுத்து 2002ம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 18ம் தேதி ஒரு செக் போஸ்டில் வைத்து அருண் பிரகாஷை போலீசார் கைது செய்தனர். இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிமன்றம் கடந்த டிசம்பரில் அருண் பிரகாஷை கொலைக் குற்றவாளி என அறிவித்து தூக்கு தண்டனை விதித்தது.

இதை எதிர்த்து பிரகாஷ் தாக்கல் செய்த மேல் முறையீட்டு மனு இந்த ஆண்டு பிப்ரவரியில் தள்ளுபடி செய்யப்பட்டது. இதனால் தூக்கு தண்டனை உறுதியானது.

இதையடுத்து மரண தண்டனையை ரத்து செய்யக் கோரியும், அதை ஆயுள் தண்டனையாக மாற்றக் கோரியும் ஆம்னெஸ்டி இன்டர்நேஷனல் அமைப்பு உலகளாவிய பிரசாரத்தை தொடங்கியது.

சிங்கப்பூர் அதிபர் எஸ்.ஆர்.நாதனுக்கும், அருணின் பெற்றோர் கருணை மனு அனுப்பினர்.

இந்திய, சிங்கப்பூர் தமிழ் அமைப்புகளும் அதிபர் எஸ்.ஆர். நாதனுக்கு இதே போன்ற கருணை மனு அனுப்பியிருந்தன. ஆனால், இந்தக் கருணை மனுக்களை நாதன் நிராகத்தார்.

இதையடுத்து அருணுக்கு இன்று (அக்டோபர் 3) மரண தண்டனை நிறைவேற்றப்படும் என சிங்கப்பூர் சிறை நிர்வாகம் அறிவித்தது. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து இன்று காலை அவர் தூக்கில் இடப்பட்டு கொல்லப்பட்டதாக சிறைத்துறை செய்தித் தொடர்பாளர் தெரிவித்தார்.

அருணின் தந்தை ஒய்வு பெற்ற ராணுவ வீரர் ஆவார். இப்போது நாகப்பட்டிணம் சுங்கத் துறையில் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். அவரது தாயார் மின்சார வாரியத்தில் வேலை பார்க்கிறார். அருணுக்கு திருமணமாகாத இரு சகோதரிகள் உள்ளனர்.

சிங்கப்பூரில் இந்த ஆண்டில் மட்டும் அருணையும் சேர்த்து 13 பேர் தூக்கில் போடப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

தூக்கிலிட்டுவிட்டார்கள்

இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிமன்றம் கடந்த டிசம்பரில் அருண் பிரகாஷை கொலைக் குற்றவாளி என அறிவித்து தூக்கு தண்டனை விதித்தது.

தண்டனை குறைக்காததற்கு முக்கிய காரணம்.. தலைமறைவாக இருக்கலாம்.. :?: :?: :?:

எத்தினையோ பேர் சனநாயகம் எண்டு நாடு பிடித்து உள்ள அப்பாவியலைக் கொல்லுறாங்கள்....குண்டு குண்டா செய்து வச்சிருக்காங்கள்..அவங்கள் எல்லாம் வெள்ளை மாளிகையும் அலரிமாளிகையும் எண்டு வாழுறாங்கள்....ஆனா...இவனுக்கு மட்டும் சட்டம் சரியா வேலை செய்யுது...காரணம்...அவன் சாதாரண மனிதன்....! மற்றவை எல்லாம் அதிகார வெறிப்பிராணிகள்.....! :evil: :roll: :evil:
