இராக்கில் பணயக்கைதிகளாகப் பிடித்து வைக்கப்பட்டு விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்ட இத்தாலிய மற்றும் எகிப்தியர்கள், தங்களது அனுபவங்களைப் பற்றி விவரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

இத்தாலிய வெளியுறவு அமைச்சர், பிரான்கோ பிராட்டினி, பணயக்கைதிகளை விடுவிக்க பணம் ஏதும் தரப்படவில்லை என்று வலியுறுத்தினார். ஆனால், இத்தாலிய நாடாளுமன்றத்தின் வெளி விவகாரங்கள் குழுவின் தலைவர், குஸ்டாவோ செல்வா, சுமார் ஒரு மிலியன் டாலர்கள் பிணைத்தொகையாகக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டதாகத் தாங்கள் நம்புவதாகக் கூறினார்.

மற்றுமொரு சம்பவத்தில், அரபுத் தொலைக்காட்சி சேனலான, அல் ஜஸீராவில், இராக்கில் பிடித்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் , பிரிட்டிஷ் பணயக்கைதி, கென்னத் பிக்லியின் படம் வீடியோவில் காட்டப்பட்டது.

இந்த வீடியோக் காட்சியில், ஒரு இரும்பு கூண்டில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்ககும், பிக்லி, தன்னைக் கடத்தியவர்களின் நிபந்தனைகளுக்கு பணியுமாறு, பிரிட்டிஷ் பிரதமர் டோனி பிளேரை அவர் கோருகிறார்.

<b>3 மாணவிகளை பாலியல் ரீதியாக இம்சை செய்த அதிபருக்கு 18 மாத சிறைத் தண்டனை: வவுனியா நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு

வவுனியாவில் உள்ள சிங்களப் பாடசாலை ஒன்றில் 13 வயது நிரம்பிய மூன்று மாணவிகளை பாலியல் ரீதியான இம்சைக்கு உட்படுத்தினார் எனும் குற்றச்சாட்டின் பேரில் அதிபர் ஒருவருக்கு 18 மாத சிறைத்தண்டனையும் தலா 10,000 ரூபா வீதம் முப்பதாயிரம் தண்டப்பணம் செலுத்துமாறு வவுனியா மாவட்ட நீதவான் எம். இளஞ்செழியன் நேற்று உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

மேற்படி சம்பவம் 2000ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆவணி மாதம் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளது. பாடசாலை முடிந்த பின்னர் மாலைநேர வகுப்பு என்று கூறி மாணவிகளை தனித்தனியாக அறைக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று அங்கசேட்டை புரிந்ததாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகிறது.

எனினும் இந்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக பெற்றோர்களாலோ அல்லது மாணவிகளாலோ பொலிசில் முறைபாடு செய்யவில்லை. எனினும் இந்த சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக சிங்களப் பத்திரிகை ஒன்றில் செய்தி வெளியானதன் பின்னர் தேசிய சிறுவர் பாதுகாப்பு அதிகார சேவை வவுனியா பொலிஸ் னுஐபு க்கு தொலைபேசிமுலம் தொடர்பு கொண்டு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமாறு கேட்டு இருந்தது.

இதற்கு அமைவாக சட்டமா அதிபரின் பரிந்துரையின் பேரில் தண்டனை சட்டக் கோவை 345இன் கீழ் தனித்தனியாக 2002ஆம் ஆண்டு சித்திரை மாதம் வவுனியா நீதவான் நீதிமன்றில் வவுனியா பொலிசார் வழக்கு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டு விசாரணைகள் இடம் பெற்றது. வழக்குக்கு பாடசாலை அதிபர் மாணவிகள் கல்வித் திணைக்கள அதிகாரிகள் ஆகியோர் சாட்சியம் வழங்கியிருந்தனர்.

இதற்கு இடையில் மாணவிகளும் பாடசாலை அதிபரும் வேறு பாடசாலைகளுக்கு சென்று இருந்தனர். வழக்கு விசாரணைகள் இடம் பெற்றது. கல்வித் திணைக்கள அதிகாரிகள் மாலைநேர வகுப்பு வைப்பதற்கு தாங்கள் அனுமதி வழங்கவில்லை என்று சாட்சியம் அளித்திருந்தனர். பாடசாலை அதிபர் தன்மீது சுமத்தப்பட்டுள்ள குற்றமானது பொய்யானது என்றும் அரசியல் பின்னணி கொண்டது என்றும் தெரிவித்திருந்தார்.

நேற்று வழக்கு விசாரணைக்கு எடுத்து கொள்ளப்பட்டு இந்தியாவில் இவ்வாறான வழக்குகளில் வௌ;வேறு நீதிமன்றங்களில் வழங்கப்பட்ட தீரிப்புக்களை மேற்கோள் காட்டி 18 மாதகால சிறைத் தண்டனையும் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மாணவிகள் ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் தலா 10 ஆயிரம் ரூபா தண்டப்பணம் வழங்க வேண்டும் என்று வவுனியா மாவட்ட நீதவான் எம். இளஞ்செழியன் உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார்.

<b>LTTE in Brussels to meet EU, Belgian Govt. Officials</b>

Liberation Tigers delegation led by Head of Political Wing, S.P.Thamilchelvan, arrived in Brussels Saturday, sources close to the LTTE said. The LTTE delegation is scheduled to meet with European Union (EU) officials on Monday. Later Monday the LTTE team will be meeting offficials of the Department of Foreign Services of the Government of Belgium, according to LTTE sources.
LTTE delegation will depart Tuesday to Norway, their next itinery in their month long tour of Europe.

European Union earlier sent an Observer Mission, led by European Parliament member Mr.John Cushnahan, to monitor and report on the April 2004 elections held in Sri Lanka.

Initially, the EU consisted of just six countries: Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom joined in 1973, Greece in 1981, Spain and Portugal in 1986, Austria, Finland and Sweden in 1995. In 2004 the biggest ever enlargement took place with 10 new countries joining.

பலியான புூசகர் கல்வியங்காட்டைச் சேர்ந்த வரதராஜப்பெருமாள் ஹரிகரசர்மா வயது 24 என அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இவர் மோட்டார் சைக்கிளில் இவ்வீதியில் சென்று கொண்டிருந்த சமயம் எதிரே வந்த இராணுவ பவுசர் வண்டி இவர்மீது மோதியதாக தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.

மரண விசாரனைக்காக சாவகச்சேரி பதில் நீதிபதி எஸ்.கந்தசாமி சம்பவ இடத்தை நேரில் பார்வையிட்டார்.

செய்திகள் சேகரிக்கச் சென்ற இரு ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் என 10 பேர் வரை பொலிசாராலும் இராணுவத்தினராலும் தாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள். இதனைத் தவிர 5இற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பொலிசாரும் இராணுவத்தினரும் பொதுமக்களின் கல்வீச்சில் காயமடைந்துள்ளார்கள்.

குறிப்பிட்ட சம்பவங்கள் தொடர்பாக 3 பேர் பொலிசாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த போதிலும், பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் என்.ரவிராஜின் தலையீட்டையடுத்து அவர்கள் விடுவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்கள்.
இராணுவ வாகன விபத்தில் பலியான வரதராஜப் பெருமாள ஹரிகர சர்மாவின் புூதவுடலை நீதிபதி வரமுன்பு இராணுவத்தினரும் பொலிசாரும் அப்புறப்படுத்த முற்பட்டதால் தான் மக்கள் ஆத்திரமுற்றதாக தமிழ்த் தேசிய கூட்டமைப்பின் யாழ் மாவட்ட பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் என்.ரவிராஜ் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

கொடிகாமம் சம்பவம் குறித்து நேரில் பார்வையிடுவதற்காக சக பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் எஸ்.கஜேந்திரன் சகிதம் அந்த இடத்திற்குச் சென்று திரும்பிய அவர் இதனைக் கூறினார்.

அவர் மேலும் கூறியதாவது,

சம்பவம் இடம்பெற்ற இடத்தை நீதிபதி வந்து பார்வையிடும் வரை அகற்றக் கூடாது என பொது மக்கள் உறுதியுடன் இருந்தார்கள்.

இதனால் ஏற்பட்ட முறுகல் நிலை காரணமாக இராணுவமும் பொலிசாரும் பொதுமக்கள் மீது தாக்குதல் மேற்கொண்டார்கள். இதன் காரணமாகவே பொதுமக்கள் அவர்கள் மீது கற்களை வீசத் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

சம்பவம் நடைபெற்ற இடத்திற்கு நாங்கள் சென்று நிலைமையை கட்டுப்படுத்தாமல் விட்டிருந்தால் நிலமை மோசமடைந்து இராணுவத்தினரின் துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டில் பொதுமக்கள் உயிரிழப்புக்களை சந்திக்க நேரிட்டிருக்கும்.

இராணுவம் மற்றும் பொலிசாரின் தாக்குதலில் 20 பொதுமக்கள் வரை காயமடைந்துள்ளார்கள். இதனைத் தவிர வன்முறைகளின் போது போர் நிறுத்தக் கண்கானிப்புக் குழுவினதும் எனது வாகனத்தினதும் முன்பக்க கண்ணாடி சேதமடைந்துள்ளது என்றார்.

இது ஒருபுறமிருக்க விபத்துடன் தொடர்புடைய இராணுவ வாகன சாரதி கொடிகாமம் பொலிசாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இப் பிரதேசத்தில் நிலமை தற்போது வழமைக்கு திரும்பியுள்ளது.

<b>TNA appeals to India not to harm peace efforts</b>

''The prime need in Sri Lanka, today, is the peaceful resolution of the Tamil question. The Tamil people are confident that India will not act in a manner harmful to Tamil interests. The Tamil people appeal to Indian government that the conclusion of the Indo-Sri Lanka defence co-operation agreement, and the commencement of development activities in the North-East with the military dimension be not proceeded with, '' said a press release issued by the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Wednesday.

Parliamentarians Messrs R.Sampanthan, Mavai Senathirajah , Selvam Adaikalanathan, Suresh Premachchandran, G.G.Ponnambalam, M.K.Eelaventhan, Joseph Pararajasingham, N.Raviraj, Kiddnan Sivanesan and Ms. Padmini Sithamparanathan signed the press release.

The full text of the press release follows:

The proposed Indo-Sri Lanka Defence Co-operation Agreement has raised much apprehension amongst the Tamil people.

The Tamil question remains unresolved. During the past year, the peace process has suffered severe setbacks. The Tamil people are beginning to entertain serious doubts about the commitment of the Sri Lankan state to resolve the Tamil question peacefully through negotiations.

The efforts to conclude a defence co-operation agreement with India in this background, is seen by the tamil people as a deliberate move by the Sri Lankan state to strengthen itself militarily.

The ceasefire agreement was concluded after a long and bitter-armed conflict. The Tamil people suffered immensely as a result of the armed conflict. Their suffering has not ended yet, and hundreds of thousands of Tamil people yet continue to be refugees and homeless. The Sri Lankan state entered in to a ceasefire, and commenced negotiations with the LTTE with the aid of an international facilitator, because the Sri Lankan state accepted that there could not be a military solution to the Tamil question.

The basis of the ceasefire agreement was the military balance that existed between the parties to the armed conflict.

The Tamil people strongly feel that it would be unjust by them, for this military balance to be altered before an acceptable negotiated resolution of the Tamil question is evolved.

The Sri Lankan state has over fifty years failed to evolve a just solution to the Tamil question. India is fully aware of the intransigence of the Sri Lankan state in evolving an acceptable solution to the Tamil question. The Sri Lankan state is even today ambivalent in regard to the basis upon which peace talks could be commenced.

The LTTE has more than one year ago, submitted in writing, detailed proposals in regard to an interim self-governing authority. The LTTE simultaneously requested that dates be fixed for the commencement of talks on the said proposals. The LTTE has agreed to discuss any proposals the Government brings to the negotiating table in regard to the ISGA.

The pathetic position of hundreds of thousands of displaced Tamil people renders such an interim authority an imperative need. The United National Party has publicly announced its willingness to unconditionally support any agreement arrived at between the Government and the LTTE. With the support of the Tamil National Alliance, and other political parties represented in parliament, the Government is assured of a two-thirds majority in parliament, in support of any agreement relating to the ISGA.

The Government is yet reluctant to send an unequivocal message to the LTTE in regard its willingness to commence talks on the ISGA. This attitude of the Government diminishes the confidence of the Tamil people in the Government's commitment to a negotiated political solution, and accentuates the fear that the Government is creating an environment that could lead to the resumption of the war.

It is in this background that the Tamil people fear that an Indo-Sri Lanka defence co-operation agreement would be harmful to the peace process and consequently to the interests of the Tamil people.

The Tamil people are conscious of India's concerns in regard to the possible involvements of others, Sri Lanka in a manner adverse to India's legitimate concerns.

However, the prime need in Sri Lanka, today, is the peaceful resolution of the Tamil question. The Tamil people are confident that India will not act in a manner harmful to Tamil interests. The Tamil people for the aforestated reasons, appeal that the conclusion of the Indo-Sri Lanka defence co-operation agreement, and the commencement of development activities in the North-East with the military dimension be not proceeded with.

<b>Sri Lanka shuts rebel border</b>

Sri Lanka's army has closed off entry points to areas controlled by Tamil Tiger rebels for the first day since a 2002 ceasefire after Red Cross officials said they feared for their safety amid sporadic violence.

The surprise move on Thursday left up to 25,000 people stranded at a border separating government-controlled areas from land held by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Pro-rebel protesters burned tyres along the Indian Ocean island's main north-south highway.

Tensions are running high between the majority Sinhalese and minority Tamils in the north and east after the rebel group paid annual homage to fallen comrades at the weekend. Police have imposed curfews in the restive east.

Protesters angry at being prevented from hoisting rebel flags by the army during last week's celebrations brought two northern towns to a standstill on Thursday and police reinforced patrols in government-run areas.

"Because of the unsettled situation that prevailed in the morning, and since no one can guarantee our safety, we decided to stay away," said Sukumar Rockwood, spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Under the terms of the two-year-old ceasefire, which halted the Tigers' two-decade war for autonomy in which at least 64,000 people have been killed, Red Cross officials must be present for border crossings to be open.

Army officials said they expected the crossings, which are usually open during the day and closed at night, to reopen on Friday.

Stoking tensions, reclusive Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran on Saturday threatened to restart the war unless the government agreed to discuss their demands for self-rule soon.

Political analysts played down the border closure, but said it showed relations across the ethnic divide were straining.

"What can be seen is the continuous deterioration in the ground situation and in the discourse between the two sides and the language they are using," said Jehan Perera, a political analyst with the non-governmental National Peace Council in Colombo.

In a strongly worded annual address to remember the rebels' war dead, Prabhakaran said on Saturday the Tigers had reached the limit of their patience and accused the coalition government's Marxist ally of blocking the peace process.

The ceasefire is holding but peace talks stalled last year, leaving the process in limbo.

Diplomats and analysts say neither side wants to return to war and that the impasse will likely stretch on for months.

<b>Bharathiraja moved by LTTE's 'sacrifices' </b>

Colombo, Dec. 5 (PTI): Tamil Film Director Bharathiraja, has said he was deeply moved by the "sacrifices" made by Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka.

Bharathiraja attended the Heroes' Day ceremony in Jaffna last month to honour 17,800 men and women the LTTE has lost in fighting so far.

"When I was in Jaffna in its natural surroundings, what I saw and heard there made me feel very homely. I am fascinated by the people of Jaffna," he was quoted as saying by pro-rebel Tamilnet website. "I witnessed the Heroes' Day events which really melted my heart. The lighting of the torch in memory of the Heroes was a magnificent sight," he said.

"However, I was badly shaken by the scars of war I saw. I became heavy hearted by the thought that this much of wound has been inflicted on this soil which thrives with valour, heroism, militancy and martyrdom", he said.

The director also said the people of Tamil Nadu had made "great achievements" but they were "dwarfed" by those of the LTTE.

ஆனால், அரசாங்கத்தின் உதவி தங்களுக்குக் கிடைக்காத நிலையில் அன்னிய நிதியுதவியை நேரில் பெறுவதைத் தவிர தங்களுக்கு வேறு வழியில்லை என புலிகள் கூறியுள்ளனர்.

தனியார் தொலைக்காட்சிக்கு சந்திரிகா அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில், நிவாரணப் பணிகளில் தமிழர் பகுதி, சிங்களர் பகுதி என்றெல்லாம் பாகுபாடு பார்க்கப்படவில்லை. விடுதலைப் புலிகளுடன் இணைந்து மீட்புப் பணிகளில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகிறோம்.

என்ன வகையான உதவி தேவை என்பதை புலிகளின் அரசியல் பிரிவுத் தலைவர் தமிழ்ச்செல்வனிடம் தொலைபேசியில் கேட்டு, வேண்டியதை செய்து வருகிறார் எனது உதவியாளர் என்றார் சந்திரிகா.

ஆனால், மிகக் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்ட வட கிழக்குப் பகுதியில் அரசின் உதவி போதிய அளவில் வந்து சேரவில்லை. இப் பகுதிகளில் புலிகள் தான் நிவாரணப் பணிகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றனர். இதற்காக ரூ. 30 கோடியை புலிகள் ஒதுக்கியுள்ளனர்.

மேலும் இப் பகுதியின் மறு நிர்மாணத்துக்கு உலக நாடுகள் உதவ வேண்டும் என்றும் புலிகள் கோரியுள்ளனர்.

வெளிநாடுகளில் இருந்து ஏராளமான நிதியுதவியும், நிவாரணப் பொருட்களும் இலங்கையில் குவிந்த வண்ணம் இருந்தாலும் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மட்டக்களப்பு, அம்பாரை மாவட்டங்களுக்கு இதுவரை எந்த உதவியும் வந்து சேரவில்லை என்கிறார் புலிகளின் கமாண்டரான பானு.

மேலும் வட கிழக்குப் பகுதிக்குள் வரும் தன்னார்வ அமைப்புக்களின் நிவாரணப் பொருட்கள் ஏற்றப்பட்ட வாகனங்களை ராணுவ செக்போஸ்ட்களில் நீண்ட நேரம் நிறுத்தி வைப்பதாகவும் புகார் கூறப்படுகிறது.

வட கிழக்கில் அழுகிய உடல்களாலும், தொடர் மழையாலும் சுகாதார நிலைமை மிகவும் மோசமடைந்துள்ளது. குறிப்பாக திரிகோணமலையில் நிலைமை படு மோசமாக உள்ளது.

படாலிபுரம் என்ற இடத்தில் பள்ளியொன்றில் 209 குடும்பங்கள் தங்க வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அங்கு ஒரே ஒரு கழிப்பறை தான் உள்ளது. இந்தப் பகுதிக்கு இலங்கை அரசின் உதவி கிடைக்கவில்லை.

புலிகளுக்கு யூனிசெப் பாராட்டு:

கிளிநொச்சியில் சுனாமி அலைக்கு 113 பிஞ்சுக் குழந்தைகள் பலியான செந்தளிர் இல்லத்தை ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் குழந்தைகள் நல நிதியத்தின் (யூனிசெப்) செயல் தலைவர் கரோல் பெல்லாமி நேரில் பார்வையிட்டார்.

சுனாமி அலையில் இருந்து உயிர் தப்பிய 38 குழந்தைகளைச் சந்தித்து அவர் ஆறுதல் கூறினார்.

தமிழ் மறுவாழ்வு மையத்தின் பெண்கள் மறுவாழ்வுப் பிரிவின் சார்பில் இந்த ஆதரவற்றோர் இல்லம் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

இதையடுத்து முல்லைத் தீவுக்குச் சென்ற கரோல் அங்கு சுனாமியால் மிகக் கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழர் குடியிருப்புப் பகுதிகளைப் பார்வையிட்டார். இங்கு மிக மோசமான சேதம் விளைந்துள்ளதாகக் கூறிய கரோல் இப் பகுதியின் மறு நிர்மாணப் பணிக்கு யூனிசெப் உதவும் என்றார்.

வட கிழக்கில் நிவாரணப் பணிகள் மிகச் சிறப்பாக நடப்பதாகவும் புலிகளை அவர் பாராட்டினார். பின்னர் விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் அரசியல் பிரிவுத் தலைவர் தமிழ்ச்செல்வனையும் கரோல் சந்தித்துப் பேசினார்.

தமிழ்ச்செல்வன் பேட்டி:

இதற்கிடையே சுனாமியால் சீரழிந்து போன வட கிழக்குப் பகுதிகளை சீரமைக்கவும், புணரமைக்கவும், மக்களுக்கு மறுவாழ்வளிக்கவும் குறுகிய கால மற்றும் நீண்ட காலத் திட்டங்களை வகுக்கும் பணிகளை புலிகள் இயக்கத்தின் திட்டமிடல் மற்றும் வளர்ச்சிக்கான செயலகம் தொடங்கிவிட்டதாக தமிழ்ச் செல்வன் கூறியுள்ளார்.

தமிழ்நெட் இணையத் தளத்துக்கு அவர் அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில், இந்தப் பணி மாவட்டவாரியாக நடக்கிறது.

மக்களுக்கு மறுவாழ்வளிக்கும் திட்டங்களில் இலங்கை அரசும் எவ்வாறு இணைந்து செயல்பட முடியும் என்பதற்கான வழிமுறைகளும் ஆராயப்பட்டு வருகின்றன என்றார்.

கை கொடுக்கும் தமிழர்கள்:

இதற்கிடையே வெளிநாடுகளில் வசிக்கும் ஏராளமான இலங்கைத் தமிழர்கள் வட கிழக்குப் பகுதிகளில் வந்திறங்கி நிவாரணப் பணிகளில் ஈடுபட ஆரம்பித்துள்ளனர்.

இதே போன்ற நிலை தான் இலங்கையின் தென் பகுதிகளிலும் நிலவுகிறது. அங்கும் சுமார் 20,000 பேர் பலியாகியுள்ளனர். மேலும் சில ஆயிரம் பேரைக் காணவில்லை.

மொத்தத்தில் இலங்கையில் பலியானவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 40,000த் தாண்டியுள்ளது.

தமிழகத்தை காத்த இலங்கை:

சுமத்ராவில் ஏற்பட்ட பயங்கர கடல் அலைகளின் பெரும் தாக்கத்தை இலங்கை சந்தித்துவிட்டதால் தான் ராமேஸ்வரம் தொடங்கி தமிழகத்தின் தென் கடலோர மாவட்டங்களில் பெரும் சேதம் ஏற்படவில்லை.

திருச்செந்தூர், தூத்துக்குடி, ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்ட கடலோரப் பகுதிகள் மீதான கடல் அலைகளை இலங்கையின் கிழக்குப் பகுதி சந்தித்துவிட்டது.

அதே நேரத்தில் இலங்கைக்கு மேலே மூக்கு மாதிரி நீட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் நாகப்பட்டிணமும், அதன் முனையில் இருந்த வேளாங்கண்ணியும் பெரும் சேதத்தைத் சந்தித்துள்ளன. மேலும் இலங்கையின் தென் பகுதியைத் தாக்கிய சுனாமி அலைகள் கொஞ்சமாய் திரும்பி வந்ததன் விளைவைத் தான் கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்டமும் குளச்சலும் சந்தித்துள்ளன.

இப் பகுதியிலும் சுனாமி பேய்த் தாக்குதலை இலங்கை தான் பெருமளவில் சந்தித்துள்ளது.

இலங்கையால் தான் தென் தமிழகம் இந்த அளவோடு சுனாமியிடம் இருந்து தப்பியுள்ளது.
