Three LTTE cadres killed, five injured in Vaharai

Three Liberation Tigers cadres were killed when a group of armed men wearing military fatigues raided a sentry post at Kattumurivu inside Liberation Tigers controlled Vaharai area Tuesday morning around 8:45 a.m. Five cadres were injured in the raid, LTTE officials in Sampoor said. Meanwhile, SLA sources in Welikanda told local reporters that a 40 mm grenade launcher, four T-56 rifles, ten grenades, two claymore mines and three LTTE uniform kits were captured by the attackers, claiming that the raid was carried out by "Mangalan Master", a Karuna loyalist.
The LTTE officials alleged that the raid was carried out by a heavily armed group of Sri Lanka Army soldiers and said that the attackers retreated to the Sri Lanka Army garrison in Singapura, 3 km west of Kattumurivu which is located between Vaharai and Kathiraveli.

Liberation Tigers accuse the Sri Lanka army for employing Karuna loyalist cadres as paramilitary cadres in the remote interior villages on the Polannaruwa-Batticaloa border to carry out a proxy war against them in the east.

A paramilitary camp at Theevuchenai, an interior hamlet near the Batticaloa-Polannaruwa district border, in the SLA-held area of the Polonnaruwa district was exposed by the Sunday Leader, a Colombo-based English newspaper, in March this year.

The Sri Lanka army (SLA) spokesman in Colombo denied the Sunday Leader report.

A few days later, on 21 June, three paramilitary cadres of the Karuna Group, including 'Mangalan Master' were wounded in a predawn attack by gunmen suspected to be Liberation Tigers in Theevuchenai. The wounded paramilitary cadres were admitted to Polannaruwa Base Hospital.

There are sixteen SLA camps between Batticaloa and Welikanda – a distance of about 60 kilometres.

கனரக ஆயுதங்கள் மூலம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட இத்தாக்குதல் இன்று செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை காலை 8.45 மணியளவில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது.

தாக்குதலை நடத்திய ஆயுததாரிகள் தாக்குதல் முடிந்ததும் சிங்கபுர சிறிலங்கா இராணுவ முகாமை நோக்கிச் சென்றடைந்ததாகத் தெரியவருகிறது.

சிங்கபுர இராணுவ முகாம் கட்டுமுறிவிலிருந்து மேற்காக மூன்று கிலோ மீற்றர் தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

இதேவேளை இத்தாக்குதல் குறித்து உள்ளுர் செய்தியாளர்களிற்கு கருத்துத் தெரிவித்த வெலிக்கந்த இராணுவத் தரப்பு இத் தாக்குதல் கருணா குழுவைச் சேர்ந்த மங்களம் மாஸ்ரர் என்பவரால் நடத்தப்பட்டதாகவும், இதன் போது 40 மி.மி. கிரனைட் லோஞ்சர் - 1, ரி- 56 ரக ரைபிள்கள் - 4, கிரனைட்டுகள் - 10, விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் சீருடைகள் மூன்று என்பனவும் கைப்பற்றப்பட்டதாகவும் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

மங்களம் மாஸ்ரர் என்பவர் கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் 21 ஆம் திகதி வெலிக்கந்தை இராணுவப் பிரதேசத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற தாக்குதலொன்றில் காயமடைந்து பொலநறுவை வைத்தியசாலையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தார் என்பதும், பின்னர் பலத்த பாதுகாப்புடன் கொழும்பு வைத்தியசாலைக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டார் என்பதும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

இத்தாக்குதலில் வீரச்சாவடைந்த போராளிகள்:

வினோத் (சுந்தரலிங்கம் சின்னராசா, இறால்குளி - மூதூர்,

போராளி சாரங்கன் (பத்மநாதன் செந்தூரன், 6 ஆவது மைல்கல், பெரியான்குளம், நிலாவெளி,

போராளி சிவா (நாகரத்தினம் சிவதாசன், ஆதியம்மன் கோவிலடி, கிளிவெட்டி).

இவர்களது வித்துடல்கள் திருமலை சம்பூர் அரசியல்துறை பணிமனையில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

ஆயுதக்குழுவினருடன் தமது இராணுவப் புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவையும் இணைத்து இந்தத் தாக்குதல்களை சிறிலங்கா இராணுவம் மேற்கொள்கிறது என்பதற்கு சிறிலங்கா அரச பராமரிப்பிலிருந்த மங்களம் மாஸ்ரர் இப்போது பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளமை உறுதியான சான்றாக அமைகிறது.

இதேபோன்று தென்னிலங்கையில் சிறை வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள இனியபாரதி என்பவரும் அண்மையில் இராணுவக் கட்டுப்பாட்டுப் பகுதியில் பகிரங்கமாக நடமாடியமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
