Indian Space Research Organisation has sounded a red alert across its institutions in different parts of the country following the suspected terror attack at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) campus, its Chairman G Madhavan Nair said on Thursday.
"ISRO has made all security arrangements and put on red alert. We are taking all possible steps," Nair said.
He termed Wednesday evening's attack outside the JN Tata Auditorium in the IISc campus as "shocking" and "highly depressing". Targeting an educational and scientific institution, of all the places, is shocking, he added.
In a philosophical tone, Nair remarked: "In today's world, nobody is safe".
Terrorists could have targeted Bangalore to grab national and international attention because the city had emerged as a major technology hub of the world, he averred.
