Amritanandamayi to visit tsunami-hit Lanka
Bangalore, Feb 4 (UNI) Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi will be shortly visiting Sri Lanka to offer solace to the tsunami victims in the island nation.
A senior member of the Amritanandamayi ashram, Ramakrishnanda, told newspersons here yesterday that the Sri Lankan Government had invited the Mata to provide a healing touch to the victims.
Ramakrishnanda, who was in Sri Lanka for over ten days to oversee the rehabilitation process, said the Ashram had provided Rs six crore for undertaking relief operations in the neighbouring nation, besides vessels worth Rs 30 lakh.
The Mata was expected to visit the island nation after her visit to Mysore and Bangalore, beginning on February six.
Fondly called 'Amma' by her devotees, she had announced Rs 100 crore aid for relief and rehabilitation programmes. The relief work carried out by the Ashram was a testimony to the dedication of monks, ashramites and devotees, he added.
