Clinton Bush not visiting the North East In their forthcoming visit, former presidents of the USA, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush would not be visiting the tsunami hit areas in the North and the East. According to a statement issued by the US embassy in Colombo, the ex-presidents will mainly be visiting the Southern areas of the island. The statement, giving the details of the visit says, At the request of U.S. President George W. Bush,former United States Presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush will be visiting Sri Lanka February 20-21 as part of a tour of tsunami-affected countries. This visit by Bill Clinton would be one of his last official duties on behalf of the US President before he takes up the position as the envoy of the UN Secretary General on tsunami relief. US authorities clarifies the details of the visit in their statement. President George W. Bush has asked the two former Presidents to head up private sector fundraising for relief and reconstruction. The statement says the two presidents will meet the President of Sri Lanka. The former Presidents will arrive Sunday late afternoon and hold an evening meeting with President Chandrika Kumaratunga. On Monday morning, they Will tour tsunami-affected areas in or near Matara, in southern Sri Lanka, and then depart for the Maldives. The visit will be limited to a tour of the tsunami affected areas in the South. The two former Presidents will visit sites in the Matara district, including a debris-clearing project near Matara Fort where USAID is providing cash-for-work and equipment to people affected by the tsunami to help expedite the clean up.
