இந்தியாவின் ஆன்மீகத் தலைவியான மாதா அம்ரிதானந்த மாயி இலங்கையில் ஆழிப்பேரலை அனர்த் தத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு 30கோடி ரூபாய் நிதி உதவியும் 300வீடுகளைக் கட்டிக்கொடுக்கவும் முன்வந்துள்ளார்.
இலங்கை அரசின் அழைப்பின் பேரில் அவர் நேற்று இலங்கை வந்து சேர்ந்தார். கிழக்கே அம்பாறை மாவட்டத்திற்கும் தெற்கில் ஹம்பாந்தோட்ட விற்கும் சென்று பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களைத் தாம் சந்திக்கவிருப்பதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார். ........
Amritanandamayi announces 30 million relief to Sri Lanka

[Kerala News]: THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Spiritual leader Amritanandamayi, head of Amritanandamayi Centre, has announced Rs30 million in aid to the tsunami wrecked Sri Lanka, a release from the math said here.
Quoting a media conference addressed at Colombo by the Amma, the math said that it would also construct 300 houses for the affected in the island country.
The relief work and financial assistance was being handled through the Mata Amritanandamayi Centre in USA.
The press conference, which was aired on Sri Lanka National Television, was held at the house of Agricultral Marketing Development, Co-operative Development, Hindu Affairs and Minister Assisting Education and Vocational Training Minister KN Douglas Devananda.
The minister welcomed Amritanandamayi and her tsunami relief aid on behalf of the Sri Lankan government, saying that Sri Lanka was grateful for Amma's helping hand.
During her three day visit to the island country starting on Wednesday, Amritanandamayi would visit relief camps in the Tamil area of Ampara on February 17 and the Sinhalese area of Hambantota on February 18.
Each relief camp was currently sheltering more than 1000 families rendered homeless by the tsunami. Amritanandamayi would give darshan there, as well as distribute 10,000 saris and 10,000 dhotis.
Amritanandamayi was invited to the island country last month by the Sri Lankan government "to bless Sri Lankans of all faiths and races and to bring peace and prosperity in their lives."
