That noble gentleman always maintained cordial relations even with those who differed in their opinions with him.

His services as a municipal councillor in revitalizing the Jaffna Municipal Council and its functions were immeasurable.

Till he let out his last breath, felled by the LTTE assassin’s bullet, Subathiran was continuing to render his share of service to society.

These killings by the LTTE are taking place during a period in which attempts are said to be made to establish peace, after the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

We therefore appeal to the masses who believe in democracy and peace, the President, the Government of Sri Lanka, the opposition parties, foreign diplomatic missions, human rights organizations, non-governmental organizations and individual intellectuals to intervene in this matter immediately and cause an end to these killings.

The ambitions of Comrade Subathiran are the ambitions of the civilized human society. History will take them forward.”
