Police in Montreal have raided the offices of a Tamil organization as part of an investigation into terrorist financing.
A joint RCMP-Québec and Montréal police team searched the office of the World Tamil Movement April 12, two days after Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day announced the Tamil Tigers had been put on Canada's list of banned terrorist organizations.
Officials told the National Post that no arrests were made at the Van Horne Avenue location, and that documents and information were seized.
The Tigers have fought an ongoing battle against the Sri Lankan goverment for independence in Tamil-dominated regions.
