ஈழத் தமிழர்களின் வாழ்வில் வரலாற்றில் மறக்க முடியாத படுகொலை நிகழ்வுகளில் கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலையும் ஒன்று. கிழக்கு ஈழத்தை மாத்திரமின்றி ஒட்டுமொத்த ஈழத்தையும் உலுக்கிய அப் படுகொலை குறித்து உலகமே அதிர்ந்தது. ஈழத் தமிழ் இனத்தை இன அழிப்புச் செய்யும் நோக்கில் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்ட அந்தப் படுகொலை நிகழ்ந்து 29 வருடங்கள் ஆகிவிட்டன. 

 

கொக்கட்டி மரங்கள் நிறைந்த கொக்கட்டிச்சோலை மட்டக்களப்பு மாவட்டத்தின் மண்முனை தென்மேற்கு பிரதேசச் செயலாளர் பிரிவில் உள்ள பிரதேசம். ஈழத்தில் சுயம்புலிங்கம் கோயிலாக அமைந்துள்ள தான்தோன்றீச்சரத்தைக் கொண்ட இந்தப் பிரதேசம் அழகிய விவசாய கிராமங்களாகும். 

 

கொக்கட்டிப் பிரதேசமே குருதியில் நனைந்த கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலையை மட்டக்களப்பு இறால்பண்ணை படுகொலை என்றும் நினைவுகூறப்படுகிறது. இலங்கையின் முன்னாள் ஜனாதிபதி ஜே.ஆர். ஜெயவர்த்தனவின் திட்டமிட்ட அன அழிப்பு நடவடிக்கைளில் கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலையும் ஒரு குரூரமாகும்.  

 

1987ஆம் ஆண்டில் தை 28,29 மற்றும் 30 ஆகிய நாட்களில் இலங்கை அரசின் விசேட அதிரடிப்படைகள் நடத்திய கோர இனப்படுகொலை அதுவாகும். கொக்கட்டிச்சோலை பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள கிராமங்கே இரத்ததினால் உறைந்த அந்தப் படுகொலையில் 150க்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்கள் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டனர். 12பேருக்கு என்ன நடந்தது என்று தெரியாமலே காணாமல் போயினர். கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைக் கிராமங்களை இலங்கை அரசின் விசேட படைகள் சுற்றி வளைக்க வான் வழியாகவும் தாக்குதல்கள் நடத்தப்பட்டன. 

 

மண்முனைத்துறைக்கும் மகிழடித் தீவுக்கும் இடையில் உள்ள இறால் பண்ணையில் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தவர்ளைதான் முதலில் படுகொலை செய்தனர் அதிரடிப்படையினர். அன்று இறால் பண்ணையே இரத்தப் பண்ணையாக மாறியது என்று எழுதுகிறார் மணலாறு விஜயன். அந்த மக்களை கைது செய்து தமது துப்பாக்கிளால் சுட்டு வெறிதீர்த்த பின் ரயரிட்டு எரித்து தமது இனவெறியை தீர்த்துக் கொண்டனர் அதிரடிப்படையினர். 

 

இறால் பண்ணையில் தொடங்கிய இரத்தவேடடை தலைக்குடா, மகிழடித்தீவு, முனைக்காடு, மகிழடித்தீவு, தாண்டியடி, கொக்கட்டிச்சோலை, அம்பிளாந்துறை என்று தொடர்ந்தது. பிரதேசத்தின் கிராமங்களை சுற்றி வளைத்த அதிரடிப்படையினர் எதரில் வந்தவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் வெட்டி வீசினர். கிராமம் அல்லோலகல்லோலமானது. படகுகளில் தப்பிச் சென்ற அப்பாவி மக்களை வான்வழியாக துரத்தித் துரத்தி சுட்டுக்கொன்றழித்தனர். 

 

வீட்டுக்கு வீடு மரணம். கொன்றழிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் எல்லாம் உறவினர். ஒரு வீட்டில் பலர் கொலை. குடும்பம் குடும்பாக கொன்றொழிக்கப்பட்ட கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலை எளிதில் மறக்கவோ எளிதில் ஆறவோ முடியாத பெரும் காயமாக நிகழ்ந்தது. ஒரு சிலரை தவிர அத்தனை பேரையும் அழித்தனர் இலங்கை அதிரடிப்படையினர். 

 

பலரை சிறைப்பிடித்த அதிரடிப்படையினர் அவர்களை மிகவும் மோசமாக சித்திரவதை செய்து துடிதுடிக்க கொன்று போட்ட கொடூரச் செயல்களை உயிர் தப்பிய சிலரது வாக்குமூலங்களில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. அத்துடன் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்டவர்களது சடலங்கள் அனைத்தையும் தடயம் தெரியாமல் அதிரடிப்படையினர் அழித்தனர். 

 

கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப்படுகொலை நடந்தேறி இன்றைக்கு 29 வருடங்கள் கழிந்துவிட்டன என்று கூறுவதைவிடவும் அந்தக் கொடூரப் படுகொலைக்காய் நீதிக்கு காத்திருந்து 29 வருடங்கள் என்று கூறலாம். ஈழத்தில் தமிழ் இனத்திற்கு எதிராக நடந்த இன அழிப்புப் படுகொலைகள் பலவும் விசாரணை நடக்கிறது என்றும் விசாரணை இல்லை என்றும் இழுத்தபடிப்பதைப் போல இலங்கை அரசுகள் கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலையையும் கடந்து 29 வருடங்கள். 

 

கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலைகள் சர்வதேள அளவில் இலங்கை அரசின் இன அழிப்பு முகத்தை அம்பலம் செய்தது. யோசப் பரராச சிங்கம் இந்தப் படுகொலைக்கு உதிராக சர்வதேச அளவில் குரல் எழுப்பி கவனப்படுத்தினார். அவரது கடுமையான முயற்சியினால் இப்படுகொலை குறித்து சர்வதேச அரங்கில் அதிகம் பேசப்பட்டது. அதனாலேயே ஜே.ஆர். அரசு ஒரு கண்துடைப்பு நாடகத்தை அரங்கேற்றியது. 

 

படையினர் பொறுப்பின்றி நடந்து அப்பாவிகளை பலியாக காரணமாக இருந்துள்ளனர் என்றும் அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்று சொன்னபோதும் அந்த அறிக்கையுடன் கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலை விவகாரத்தை அன்றைய இலங்கை அரசு மறைக்க முனைந்தது. படைகளைகளுக்கு தண்டனையை ஆணைக்குழு அறிக்கையில் பரிந்துரை செய்ய ஜே.ஆர். அரசு அவர்களுக்கு பதவி உயர்வை வழங்கி வேறு மாவட்டங்களுக்கு இடமாற்றம் செய்து இனழிப்பு படுகொலைகளை ஊக்குவித்தது. 

 

கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலையை மட்டக்களப்பில் மாத்திரமின்றி ஒட்டுமொத்த ஈழமும் சர்வதேச அளவிலும் நினைவுகூரல் நிகழ்வுகள் ஆண்டுதோறும் இடம்பெற்று வருகின்றன. இன்றைய தினம் மட்டக்களப்பில் கொக்கட்டிச்சோலை மண்டபத்தில் நினைவு நிகழ்வு இடம்பெறுகின்றது. அத்துடன் பிரதேசத்தில் உள்ள ஆலயங்களில் உயிர் நீத்தவர்களின் ஆத்மா சாந்தியடைய பிரார்த்தனையும் இடம்பெறுகிறது. 

 

மட்டக்களப்பு மண்ணிலிருந்து ஈழத் தமிழ் மக்களை துடைத்தெறிந்து அந்த மண்ணை அபகரிப்பதற்காகவே இந்த தாக்குதல் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. ஒரு அரசியல் நோக்கம் கருதிய இராணுவ நடவடிக்கையே கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலை. மிகவும் நன்கு திட்டமிட்ட இன அழிப்பாக அன்றைய அரசால் தனது படை எந்திரத்தின் மூலம் நடாத்தப்பட்ட கொக்கட்டிச்சோலைப் படுகொலைகள் ஈழத் தமிழ் மக்களின் நெஞ்சில் ஆறாத காயமாக நிலைத்துவிட்டது.

Kokkadichcholai massacre can never be forgotten by anyone!

Kokkadichcholai massacre is one of the massacres that can never be forgotten in the history of Eelam Tamils. Not merely the Eastern Eelam, entire Eelam was startled by this massacre. The whole world was shaken up due to this brutal massacre. 29 years passed since this massacre committed with the intention of committing genocide on Eelam Tamils

Kokkaddicholai village is situated at the Munmunnai Southwest Divisional Secretariat in Batticaloa district. This is a very beautiful agricultural village where Kokkadicholai Thantnonrishwaram temple located.

This village was soaked in the blood by this massacre which is also remembered with the name of Prawn Culture Farm Massacre. Kokkaddicholai massacre is one of the cruelest genocidal atrocities orchestrated and committed by the former President J.R.Jeyawardene.

This massacre was committed by the government Special Task Force on 28th, 29th and 30th of January in 1987. More than 150 innocent civilians were barbarously murdered and 12 went missing in this massacre which soaked the entire Kokaddicholai area in blood. Air strikes were also launched while the Kokaddicholai area was being encircled by the government Special Task Force.

Those who were working in the Prawn Culture Farm located in between Makiladitivu and Munmunaithurai were firstly killed in this massacre committed by the government Special Task Force. Manalaru Vijayan, the veteran writer, wrote in his book stating that the Prawn Farm became blood farm on that particular day when this massacre committed. Many were barbarously clubbed and hacked to death. These innocent civilians were shot and killed. The bodies were later burnt on piles of old tires by the barbaric Special Task Force.

This bloody massacre which started at Prawn Culture Farm spread to the villages such as Mudalikuda, Munaikadu, llupadichenai, Thandiady and Mahiladitivu. The operations zone had been virtually sealed off. Several other innocent civilians who tried to cross by boat were killed when they were attacked from helicopters.

Deaths were door to door. Those who were brutally killed in this massacre were relatives. Several others killed in a same family. This massacre can never be forgotten in the history. This massacre became a scar in the Eelam history. Sri Lankan Special Task Force destroyed all those innocents except for a few individuals.

Many civilians who were arrested by the Special Task Force in this massacre had been barbarically murdered after being tortured, some of the survivors testified. It is much better to state that 29 years passed since the justice for this massacre is yet to be gained rather than stating that 29 years passed since the massacre took place. 29 years passed since the Kokkatticholai massacre took place same as the investigations on the genocidal massacres committed against Eelam Tamils are being dragged on.

This massacre brought the cruel face of the Sri Lanka to the bright light in the international arena. The late parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham drove the international attention by voicing justice against this massacre committed on Tamils. This massacre was internationally spoken due to the indeavors made by Joseph Pararajasingham. Therefore the JR government staged a drama show.

The commission appointed by JR found that the commanding officer negligent in controlling his troops and recommended that he be removed from office. The commission also identified Sri Lankan military as responsible for mass murder. But, JR government gave promotion to the military officers who are responsible for this massacre instead of punishing them despite the presidential commission recommended that those officers would be punished. Thus, JR government encouraged the genocide on Eelam Tamils.

The remembrance of Kokkatticholai massacre is observed annually in Eelam and around the world. This remembrance event is held today at Kokkaticholai hall in Batticaloa. In addition, special prayers for the souls of those who were barbarically murdered rest in peace are observed in the temples.

This massacre was well orchestrated and committed with the intention of wiping out the Tamils from their native Batticaloa soil. Kokkatticholai massacre is the military operation with a political motive. This well-orchestrated genocide committed by the genocidal Sri Lankan government is continued as the unhealed scar in the hearts of Eelam Tamils.
